SPECIAL: Oldie DVD Pick of the Week

Because of complaints about only talking about Modern films, this week, I'm going to suggest an older film that was released on DVD this week:
SOYLENT GREEN

Soylent Green stars Charlston Heston as a detective in 2040, in a world where over population has caused a food shortage. When the government releases an abundunce of new food known as "Soylent Green", Heston knows something fishy is going on and comes across one of the best twist endings of all time. Soylent Green has a lot of really great aspects, not just the storyline, but little details about the future and how the world functions in a suprisingly and devestatingly realistic way.

It's Charlton Heston... seriously, it's a shining beacon that reminds you just how hammy some of the older films can be... it's a distinct patina that distinguishes films from the days of yore from today's stuff.
Not that it's bad... but it's just downright hilarious sometimes, even when it's not meant to be. :)
Planet of the Apes is another great example.
Oh... and if you're in the mood for some hilarious Greek mythology butchering... The Clash of the Titans... wonderful stuff, featuring plenty of gratuitous nudity to boot.
