Juno: Most Overrated Film of '07?

Let me first just say: Juno was really good. It had a really good script, a really good and really good actors and performances.
Everything was really solid about the film, but come on, is it really the "Best Picture" of the year?

I can give you ten films just off the top of my head more worthy of being nominated than Juno:
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
Eastern Promises
Sweeney Todd
4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days
Once
Superbad (More like Supergreat... and yes, you will be seeing more of my bad puns)
The Savages
Zodiac
Gone Baby Gone
Death Proof (Dont worry if you havent heard of it -- ill be ranting about it soon enough)

And thats just the first ones i could think of.

Juno is a really good film. A really nice film. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but can anyone really claim that its in the top 5 best films of the year? Exactly.

No as to the matter of its other Oscar noms:
Best Director - Im sorry, what? I dont even know what to say except look at the list above and all of the directors of those films all equally (if not better) then Rietmans for Juno
Best Screenplay - Once again, a really good screenplay (ok, VERY good) and it does deserve to be nom'd but not win, which is what it'll do.
Best Actress - ... OK, ill live and wont complain because she was really good (even though she was just playing a pregnant version of who she is in real life). Im pissed Angelina got left out - for A Mighty Heart - and I think she could have easily taken Pages' spot.

Who knows. Maybe its like the "Hip" thing to do at the academy, to vote for Juno that is.
And everything i've just said all leads back to one point i havent mentioned yet:
Ellen Page, Hard Candy.

In '05, Page gave one of the best performances of all time in Hard Candy. Its a must see and an incredible film, and shes a total ball buster (everyone who's seen then film has permission to laugh hysterically at that comment.)
I will never forgive the Oscar for not giving her a nom for that, but instead giving her a nom for a performance, that in comparison looks like... I dunno, Lindsay Lohan in... anything shes ever done.

So yea.

I totally agree. I was so psyched to see this film and then it just barely met my expectations - never exceeded them Maybe I should have avoided all the publicity!YOur blog is awesome...the Sarah Silverman video was so funny.
